Historic Sutter Street in Folsom




 Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today I want to share with you my experience of visiting Sutter Street in Folsom, CA. If you are looking for a place to enjoy some history, culture, and delicious food, then you should definitely check out this charming street in the heart of downtown Folsom.


Sutter Street is named after John Sutter, a pioneer who established a colony and a fort in the Sacramento area in the 1840s. He was also involved in the discovery of gold at his mill, which sparked the California Gold Rush. You can learn more about his life and legacy at the Folsom History Museum, which is located on Sutter Street. The museum also features exhibits on the Native American, Chinese, and African American communities that contributed to Folsom's development.


Another attraction on Sutter Street is the Folsom Railroad Museum, which showcases the history of railroads in Folsom and California. You can see vintage locomotives, cars, and memorabilia, as well as a replica of the first passenger train that ran from Sacramento to Folsom in 1856. You can also take a ride on a historic train that runs along the tracks next to Sutter Street on weekends and holidays.



If you are feeling hungry after exploring the museums, you have plenty of options to choose from on Sutter Street. One of my favorites is Sutter Street Steakhouse, which serves amazing steaks, seafood, and wine in a cozy and elegant setting. The service is friendly and attentive, and the food is cooked to perfection. I recommend trying their prime rib or their filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. You won't regret it!


Another great place to eat on Sutter Street is Karen's Bakery, which offers European-style baked goods, breakfast, and lunch. The bakery has a lovely patio where you can enjoy your meal while watching the people and cars go by. The pastries are fresh and delicious, and the sandwiches are hearty and satisfying. I love their croissants, scones, and quiches. They also have a variety of coffee drinks and teas to go with your food.



Sutter Street is not only a place to eat and learn, but also a place to shop and have fun. There are many boutiques, antique stores, art galleries, and specialty shops that sell unique and local products. You can find everything from clothing, jewelry, books, candles, chocolates, and more. Some of my favorite shops are Snook's Candies, where you can watch them make their famous fudge and brittle, The Bag Lady Boutique, where you can find stylish handbags and accessories.


Sutter Street also hosts many events throughout the year that celebrate the seasons and the community. Some of the most popular ones are the Folsom Ice Rink in winter, the Farmers Market in spring and summer, the Hometown Parade in June, and the Holidays in Historic Folsom in December. There is always something going on on Sutter Street that makes it lively and festive.
